Don’t think I’ve thought of that since high school. But yes — used to say “rabbit, rabbit” on the first. Where did that start? And why?
The beginnings are a little misty – the earliest references are the beginning of the 20th century, but a little defensive “I thought EVERYONE knew that”). I got it from Trixie Beldon mysteries…I assumed it was Irish (ish)..Most of the references I’ve found are US/UK., and the real conundrum is: is it ‘rabbit, rabbit” or “rabbit, rabbit, rabbit” or is it “white rabbit”? The white rabbit makes me think of Alice in Wonderland…..
